iQOO Neo 7 Unboxing and First Impressions


iQOO launched the iQOO Neo 7, the company’s latest mid-range smartphone, in India today. The successor to last year’s iQOO Neo 6 packs India’s first Dimensity 8200 SoC, has a 6.78-inch 120Hz FHD+ E5 AMOLED screen, and brings several improvements. Here we have the unboxing.

Starting with the display, the iQOO Neo 7 packs a 6.78-inch FHD+ E5 AMOLED 20:9 120Hz display. Since the display has up to 1500 nits brightness, it is good to view outdoors.

Powered by Dimensity 8200 4nm SoC with built-in 5G SA/NSA support, it has support for several 5G bands. It has up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 8GB of virtual RAM. It also has up to 256GB UFS 3.1 storage.

It has a punch-hole that houses a 16-megapixel camera with f/2.45 aperture. The earpiece doubles up as a secondary speaker.

There is a small 2.65mm chin below the screen, 1mm less than the predecessor. The side bezels are just 1.6mm, so it has 93.1% screen-to-body ratio, compared to 91.4% in the predecessor. It has an in-display optical fingerprint scanner.

The phone has 35,090 mm² total heat dissipation area in which, 2396 mm² is the VC cooling area. It has X-axis linear vibration motor and 4D vibration, making it suitable for gaming. It runs Android 13 with FuntouchOS 13, and the company has promised 2 years of Android OS updates and 3 years of security updates for the phone.

Coming to button placements, the phone has a home button and volume rockers on the right. The bottom part is crammed with a dual SIM slot, primary microphone, USB Type-C port and a speaker grill. The secondary microphone and the IR blaster are present on the top.

The phone packs triple rear cameras that include a 64MP main camera with f/1.79 aperture along with 2MP depth and 2MP macro cameras, so the 8MP ultra-wide camera from the predecessor has been removed to cut the cost. There is up to 4K 60 fps video recording for the rear camera, and the front camera supports up to 1080p 30fps recording. Check out some camera samples.

The phone has a plastic back, but it has a matte finish, so it doesn’t attracts fingerprints. It packs a 5000mAh battery with 120W flash charging with 120W fast charging

Priced starting at Rs. 29,999 for the 8GB RAM with 128GB storage version, it is already on sale Amazon.in. With the Flat Rs. 1500 off with HDFC / ICICI / SBI cards, the effective price of the phone is Rs. 28,499.
