Intel Xeon W-3400 and W-2400 workstation processors announced

Intel has introduced the new Intel Xeon W-3400 and Intel Xeon W-2400 processors for desktop workstations, which are code-named Sapphire Rapids.

The Intel Xeon w9-3495X is the most powerful desktop workstation processor designed by Intel. Earlier in January, the company announced the Intel Core i9-13900KS, which can achieve a maximum turbo frequency of up to 6.0GHz.

New Intel Xeon Workstation Processors

The new Xeon processors are designed for professional creators and offer significant performance enhancements for media and entertainment, engineering, and data science professionals. These processors are equipped with an innovative compute architecture, faster cores, and new embedded multi-die interconnect bridge (EMIB) packaging, which allows for unprecedented scalability and increased performance.

The Xeon W-3400 and Xeon W-2400 processors offer the advanced computing capabilities required by today’s professionals for future computing needs. These processors support DDR5 RDIMM memory, PCIe Gen 5.0, and Wi-Fi 6E, which are cutting-edge platform technologies for future compute workloads.

The top-of-the-line Intel Xeon w9-3495X processor comes with up to 56 cores in a single socket, a redesigned memory controller, and a larger L3 cache, resulting in a 28% single-thread and up to 120% multithread performance improvement over the previous generation. It can operate at frequencies up to 4.8 gigahertz with Intel Turbo Boost Max Technology 3.0, providing professionals with remarkable computing performance in their daily workloads.

Pricing and availability

The Intel Xeon W-3400 and W-2400 workstation processors are available for pre-order and will be available for system use starting in March 2023.

The price for the Intel Xeon W Processor family starts at $359 (Rs. 29,690 approx.) for the Xeon w3-2423 and scales up to $5,889 (Rs. 4,87,020 approx.) for the Xeon w9-3495X.

Speaking on the announcement, Roger Chandler, Intel vice president and general manager, Creator and Workstation Solutions, Client Computing Group, said,

For more than 20 years, Intel has been committed to delivering the highest quality workstation platforms – combining high-performance compute and rock-solid stability – for professional PC users across the globe. Our new Intel Xeon desktop workstation platform is uniquely designed to unleash the innovation and creativity of professional creators, artists, engineers, designers, data scientists and power users – built to tackle both today’s most demanding workloads as well as the professional workloads of the future.
