It has been a couple of years since OnePlus entered the TV market in India with the launch of the OnePlus TV 55 Q1 series. Their portfolio has since grown significantly in India, with TVs launched across various price ranges. The company is now back with the successor to the 55-inch Q1 Pro, with a new flagship TV called the OnePlus TV 65 Q2 Pro. The company has made a number of upgrades to the TV, but interestingly kept the price the same. Is the TV worth getting in 2023? Read on to find out.
Specifications
Let’s start with the specifications of the 65-inch Q2 Pro:
- 65-inch 4K (3840 x 2160 pixels) QLED screen, 120Hz refresh rate, 1200 nits peak brightness

Assembly and stand
The TV is heavier than its predecessor (29.8 kg with the stand), owing to the larger size and better material choices. The TV does come with a metal stand in the box along with a wall mount, so both choices are available. The stand has changed this year to a simple rectangular piece of metal that looks elegant and clean. Personally, I prefer this over the two-piece stand that came with the previous model. The Q2 Pro feels more steady on a table, and the stand’s design blends beautifully with the TV.
We assembled our unit with the included stand and the procedure was quite simple with just 4 screws. Since the TV is 65-inches in size and quite heavy, I would strongly recommend having at least two people to assemble it safely.
Design
The OnePlus TV 65 Q2 Pro shares a similar design language to its predecessor, with a few key differences. The front facing speaker unit continue to have horizontal grills running across it, with a square OnePlus logo on the right side. Unlike the Q1 Pro, however this speaker unit is fixed in place and not movable. It is always visible, and it makes the TV look a little more substantial than its predecessor.
The rest of the TV is mostly unchanged. The bezels are minimal on the top, right and left edge, and the bottom bezel is slightly thicker. The sides have a metallic finish, while the back is made out of thick plastic that feels sturdy.
The rear panel has a vertical striped pattern that looks rather cool, although it won’t be visible to people in most scenarios.
All the ports can be found facing the right side of the TV (when you look at it from the front), and the power plug inserts into the left side. Interestingly, the TV uses a 3-pin plug instead of the 2-pin that I see most TVs using these days.
Display Quality
The Q2 Pro features a larger 65-inch 4K (3840 x 2160 pixels) QLED panel, with a native refresh rate of 120Hz and a peak brightness of 1200 nits. It boasts a coverage of 97% of the DCI-P3 colour space and an ΔE ≤ 1.5, which is quite impressive.
The TV features a host of display technologies such as their Gamma Engine Ultra technology, MEMC, Dynamic Contrast, Colour Space mapping, Noise reduction, etc. Regarding HDR compatibility, the TV supports Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HDR10 and HLG. Unfortunately, the TV does not support Filmmaker Mode, which is present on competition TVs from LG and Samsung.
Visually, the display is fantastic. Thanks to its QLED technology, colours look vibrant, accurate and saturated. It has 120 local dimming zones that lend the display an impressive amount of contrast and also enables a great HDR viewing experience. The viewing angles were excellent, and its typical brightness of 500 nits was more than enough for viewing indoors.
The feature that I’m really happy to see is the panel’s native 120Hz refresh rate, along with support for variable refresh rate between 48Hz and 120Hz. This makes a big difference when playing games on the TV, either with a console or a PC. There aren’t many options that offer native 120Hz support in this price range, so the OnePlus Q2 Pro has a huge selling point for gamers.
Audio quality
OnePlus has made a significant upgrade to the speaker system of the Q2 Pro, which now features a 70W 2.1 channel speakers. Out of this, 40W comes from the soundbar upfront and the rest 30W comes from the dedicated subwoofer found on the back of the TV. The whole speaker was tuned by Danish audio company Dynaudio, and the TV supports Dolby Atmos.
While I was impressed with the audio from the Q1 Pro, the speaker system on the Q2 Pro takes it up a notch. The speakers get loud and have little-to-no distortion even at high volumes. The subwoofer does a good job of delivering the lower frequencies and its fills out the audio wonderfully. The tweeters are clear and have good clarity, although in some genres, they felt a bit thin.
If audio is incredibly important to you, then I would suggest getting a dedicated surround sound system. The TV can’t truly replicate full surround sound. For most users, though, the built-in speakers of the OnePlus Q2 Pro are more than enough. The speakers are certainly adequate.
Software experience
The Q2 Pro is a smart TV after all, running Google TV on top of Android TV 11, along with Oxygen Play 2.0. I prefer the interface of Google TV over the default Android TV UI, so it is nice to see it on this TV. There is support for Voice Command, which is enabled with far-field microphones that can be turned off if needed. For casting options, the TV supports Miracast, Chromecast, NFC Cast and Multicast 2.0.
OnePlus has been working on increasing the integrations in their OnePlus ecosystem of products. With the Q2 Pro, OnePlus has enabled smoother sync between the OnePlus Buds, OnePlus Watch and of course the OnePlus Connect app for smartphones. The OnePlus Connect 2.0 now supports features like Gamepad, TypeSync, Smart Volume Control, Memo Board, File Transfer, clear background applications and more.
Navigating through the UI was simple, and the responsiveness was good. OnePlus is using a more powerful processor this time and the performance is noticeable. Coming to the remote, it uses the typical OnePlus remote with dedicated shortcuts for Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, YouTube and Hotstar.
Conclusion
When the company launched the Q1 Pro three years ago, it faced stiff competition from TV brands that were already well established in India. The company has since learnt a lot from their market, expanded into different price segments, and this is evident with the Q2 Pro.
The TV offers a unique set of features at a price point where there aren’t many alternative choices. You get a 65-inch QLED panel that offers a great viewing experience, and the native 120Hz refresh rate enables a great gaming experience. The audio is excellent for built-in speakers, and the software experience is good. The design is classically OnePlus – elegant, sublime and premium.
For the price of Rs. 99,999, the OnePlus Q2 Pro looks like a great option, especially if you are in the market for a 65-inch TV. Unfortunately, the TV will not be suited for people who are looking at other TV sizes, as OnePlus Q2 Pro is only offered in one size. The TV is quite close to OLED TV options if customers are willing to spend a little more money, and those TVs are more superior in my opinion. However, if you are looking for a TV under a lakh, then the Q2 Pro should definitely be taken in consideration.
