TCL 40 series phones, TCL Tab 11 and MOVEAUDIO Neo announced


TCL is known for its televisions, but it is also trying to make a name for itself in the budget-focused smartphone market with more 40 series smartphones.

Last month, it released the Ion X with a microSD card slot, a removable battery, and other features. In 2022, the TCL TAB 10 5G was launched. At MWC 2023, TCL unveiled three new smartphones, two new tablets, and a new pair of earbuds.

TCL Expands 40 Series of Smartphones

TCL has added two new 5G phones – the TCL 40 X 5G and the TCL 40 XE 5G – to its 40 series of smartphones, which was unveiled at CES this year. The only non-5G option is the TCL 40 XL.

Features and specifications
  • Display: Both the TCL 40 X 5G and the 40 XE 5G feature 6.56-inch HD+ screens and 90Hz refresh rate, while the 40 XL has a larger 6.75-inch HD+ display.
  • Processor: The 5G phones come with MediaTek’s Dimensity 700 SoC and the 40 XL has the MediaTek Helio G37 chipset.
  • Storage: The 40 XL gets 128GB of storage, and all three have 4GB of RAM and a microSD card slot.
  • Cameras: The TCL 40 X 5G and the 40 XL feature a 50MP primary camera with two 2MP lenses for macro and depth functions, while the 40 XE 5G has a 13MP main sensor with the same macro and depth cameras. All three phones have an 8MP front camera.

The 40X 5G and 40XL both feature side-mounted fingerprint scanners and face unlock. Additionally, the 4G-only has dual speakers and more. All three phones have 5,000mAh batteries, potentially running on Android 12.

TCL’s New Earbuds

TCL’s new MOVEAUDIO Neo ANC earbuds offer four pre-set EQ modes, and they also provide up to 25 decibels of bass-boosted sound. The earbuds can run for 7 hours, and the charging case and earbuds combined provide up to 40 hours of use.

TCL’s New Tablets

TCL’s latest launches include two tablets, the NXTPAPER 11 and the TCL Tab 11. The NXTPAPER 11 is a hybrid tablet/e-reader that features an 11-inch 2K display powered by TCL’s NXTPAPER 2.0 technology, which increases brightness by 150%. It is powered by a MediaTek Helio P60T processor and an 8,000mAh battery.

The TCL Tab 11 is designed for a more conventional tablet experience. It sports an 11-inch 2K display and is powered by MediaTek Helio P60T SoC along with 4GB of RAM and up to 128GB of storage. It runs on Android 13 and has an 8,000mAh battery. The tab is available in 4G and non-4G versions.

Pricing and availability

The TCL 40 X 5G and TCL 40 XE 5G will be available from June, while the TCL 40 XL 4G will be available from May this year.

  • TCL 40 X 5G – priced at $US199 (Rs. 16,495 approx.).
  • TCL 40 XE 5G – priced at $US169 (Rs. 14,010 approx.).
  • TCL 40 XL 4G – priced at $US149 (Rs. 12,350 approx.).
  • TCL NXTPAPER 2.0 – priced at $249 (Rs. 20,640 approx.). Available from May (select regions in Europe)
  • TCL Tab 11 (Wi-Fi and 4G LTE) – priced at €169 (US$178 / Rs. 14,756 approx.) and €197 (US$207 / Rs. 17,160 approx.) respectively.
  • TCL’s MOVEAUDIO Neo ANC Earbuds – priced at $US50 (Rs. 4,145 approx.).

The tablets are set to launch in Europe in May, but there is no information on a US release date. The TCL MOVEAUDIO Neo ANC Earbuds are available now in the US from TCL’s retail channels and online store.
