OnePlus has confirmed the launch of its first foldable smartphone in the second half of 2023. This was announced during its “From Fast & Smooth to Beyond” panel discussion at the Mobile World Congress 2023.
At the OnePlus 11 global launch earlier this month, the company teased something phenomenal is coming in Q3, 2023, and also posted a teaser image, hinting at the foldable.
OnePlus didn’t reveal the specifications, but it said that it will have flagship specifications. The company recently trademarked OnePlus V Fold and V Flip names with the China National Intellectual Property Administration recently, so the company might also launch a Flip phone.
OnePlus also shared its plan of building a stronger smart ecosystem in the next 3 to 5 years to bring its signature fast and smooth experience to broader categories.
Creating this ecosystem will allow OnePlus to provide a seamless connection between OnePlus devices, such as smartphones, tablets, wearables, TVs, and other Internet-of-things devices.
OnePlus will reveal more details about the foldable in the coming months.
Regarding the foldable phone, Kinder Liu, President, and COO of OnePlus at the event, said:
Our first foldable phone will have the signature OnePlus fast and smooth experience. It must be a flagship phone that doesn’t settle because of its folding form, in terms of industrial design, mechanical technology, and other aspects. We want to launch a device that aims to be at the pinnacle experience of today’s foldable market.
