OnePlus has launched “Before They Fade Away” campaign to capture the moments and wonders of life that matter. In the first chapter, the company collaborated with photographer Brayden Hall and use the camera lens to tell the awe-inspiring stories of the exquisite world of plants.
Their mission is to use technology for a better life and create a sustainable future. OnePlus recently introduced the OnePlus 11 5G smartphone, featuring an in-house algorithm TurboRAW HDR and unique Accu-spectrum hardware for capturing scenes with “pristine HDR clarity” and elevating moments to history.
First chapter of the “Before They Fade Away” campaign
This February, OnePlus partnered with adventure and landscape photographer Brayden Hall to explore the beauty of the wild west in the United States. Together with his partner Chelsea Mealo and pup Ranger, Hall drove over 2,500 miles in a campervan from Seattle to California and visited many awe-inspiring places, including the Columbia River Gorge, Mount Shasta, the Oregon Coast, and the wildflower blooms of the California beaches
Two in five of the world’s plant species are on the brink of extinction, yet their anonymity and ordinary appearance often mean they go unnoticed and forgotten. Habitat loss is the biggest threat to their survival. To bring attention to this issue, OnePlus has launched a campaign to celebrate these extraordinary species and share their incredible stories.
World of plants with the OnePlus 11 5G
Hall’s exploration of the incredible world of plants with the OnePlus 11 5G revealed two vulnerable species: Coastal Redwoods (Sequoia sempervirens) and their phenomenal capabilities. Reaching up to 380 feet in height and 29 feet in diameter, they are the world’s tallest tree species.
Unfortunately, 96 percent of them have been lost to logging and climate change has lowered their odds of survival. Despite these challenges, Coastal Redwoods can live up to 2,000 years, some of which were alive during the time of the Roman Empire. This makes them exceptionally capable of storing carbon dioxide, more per acre than any other tree in the world.
The Bishop Pine (Pinus muricate) is a threatened species of California’s coastal relict stands. Its decline is a mystery, however it is hypothesized to be a result of its fire-dependent, late-maturing nature. Its cones remain closed until opened by fire or strong heat, at which point they release seeds onto the newly-burned ground.
This realization of the importance of conservation has led Hall on an adventure to protect not only endangered species, but also to maintain the balance of a thriving ecosystem with all of its native plants.
