URBAN Fit Z review

Over the past few years, the market for smartwatches has seen significant growth and expansion, with affordability being a major factor in driving this trend.

The rise of more affordable smartwatches has made this technology more accessible to a wider range of consumers, including those who may have previously considered it too expensive or out of their budget.

One factor that has contributed to the growth of affordable smartwatches is the increasing competition among manufacturers. As more companies enter the market, they are forced to offer better products at lower prices to stand out and attract consumers.

This has led to a proliferation of smartwatches with varying features and price points, making it easier for consumers to find a model that fits their needs and budget.

Last month, URBAN, a consumer accessories brand, launched Fit Z, an affordable smartwatch with a circular dial, unlike its predecessor Urban Fit S.

Available in two colors — Black silicone strap + brown vegan leather strap (black dial) and Gray silicone strap + black vegan leather strap, URBAN Fit Z is priced at Rs. 5,999.

We have used the smartwatch briefly, and here’s our take on it.

Design and Display

The Fit Z boasts a circular dial resembling Samsung Galaxy Watches, with a thick black bezel and a sturdy aluminum finish. Due to the large size of the dial, there is a high likelihood of scratches and dents.

Located on the right side are two buttons; one for returning to the previous menu, and the other for locking the display. On the right side, there is also a microphone, and on the left, a speaker.

At the back of the watch, there are heart rate and SpO2 sensors, as well as a pogo pin for charging. The strap is made of lightweight and skin-friendly silicone material, and it is interchangeable. The quality of the strap is good.

The Fit Z features a 1.4-inch Always-On AMOLED screen that supports 100+ cloud-based watch faces.

The large display allows for clear viewing, and the brightness support is good, making outdoor visibility possible. However, the touch response may be slow when attempting to swipe quickly.

You can set it to turn on when you lift your hand, and the screen turns off in a few seconds to save power.

By swiping from the top of the screen, you can modify the brightness using the brightness bar, although there is no automatic brightness feature available. Additionally, swiping from the bottom of the screen presents a simple notification shade option.

The notification panel contains options such as Silent mode, torch, brightness adjustment, Do Not Disturb (DND), power saver, and Settings.

Features

Regarding the Fitness app, the Fit Z comes with Urban Health Suit, which can monitor Heart Rate, Sleep Monitoring, Blood Pressure, and Blood Oxygen. One can also set reminders for Sedentary and Hydration alerts.

The most prominent feature of the smartwatch is its built-in calling function which includes a microphone and a speaker. Additionally, it displays call logs and has a dial pad as well as a contacts option that can be added from the app. However, you need to connect the watch to a Bluetooth headset before making calls.

The calling quality is satisfactory indoors as the microphone can capture voices and the speaker is sufficiently loud. However, in noisy outdoor environments, the clarity is not as good.

Fit Z has an interesting feature, which allows you to connect your TWS with the watch and even store music using the inbuilt storage.

App and performance

The Urban Fit Z watch utilizes the ‘Da Fit’ application to manage a variety of its features. These include controlling watch faces, notifications, alarms, camera usage, reminders, and other functions.

Moreover, the watch displays details about activities such as step count, sleep patterns, distance traveled, heart rate, blood pressure, and blood oxygen levels right on the home screen.

If you access the settings tab, you can set notifications and alerts, add contacts, enable idle alerts, set reminders to drink water, enable automatic heart rate monitoring, activate the camera shutter, input your location for weather updates, set alarms, and perform other functions.

In Fit Z, you get dual sensors and a Realtek chipset for 24×7 heart rate tracking, SpO2 monitoring, and blood pressure tracking.

The watch has more than 60 sports modes to monitor various physical activities and can keep a record of calories burned and steps taken

Steps and workout tracking are decent but accurate.

When you launch the running mode from the watch directly, it doesn’t get the GPS data from the app, instead, it uses the steps to track, so the data is not 100% correct compared to other smartwatches which use dedicated GPS, but it is still decent.

The smartwatch supports fast charging and gets fully charged in 40 to 50 minutes.

In our usage, Fit Z offers up to 10 days of battery life with day-to-day tasks and up to 5 days of backup with Bluetooth calling and songs. It has a magnetic charging dock that you can even plug into a USB port of a PC or a laptop or use a power bank in low-power mode.

Conclusion

The Urban Fit Z costs Rs. 5,999 and offers voice calling capabilities, a sizable color touch screen with numerous watch faces, and a decent battery life. While its activity tracking needs improvement, it is still a reasonable choice if you desire a watch with an attractive appearance and various functions at a reasonable cost.
