Sony Alpha 7R V with 61MP Exmor R CMOS sensor, AI Autofocus and Bionz XR Engine launched in India

Sony India has launched the Alpha 7R V, the newest addition to their acclaimed Alpha mirrorless interchangeable lens camera, as the successor to the Alpha 7R IV which was launched back in 2019. This model features a high-resolution image sensor, AI-based image recognition, and the powerful BIONZ XR image processing engine.

This combo of tech means breakthroughs in subject recognition and capture for both still photography and video.

Sony’s Alpha 7R V is designed to deliver incredible detail with its 61.0 effective megapixels, BIONZ XR image processing engine and 35mm full-frame back-illuminated Exmor R CMOS image sensor.

It offers a wide range of sensitivity settings from ISO 100 to ISO 32000, 15 stops of dynamic range for stills, and Real-time Recognition AF with advanced accuracy and broader subject recognition thanks to a new AI processing unit.

This camera also features continuous shooting at up to 10 fps with AF/AE tracking and image stabilization with 8-step compensation effect for stills. Furthermore, the upgraded Pixel Shift Multi Shooting allows for 16-image composites with approximately 240.8 million pixels.

Lastly, the Alpha 7R V effectively suppresses flickering from artificial lights for stills and video. The Alpha 7R V offers a range of features to meet the needs of professionals, including:

  • Selectable RAW options, including lossless RAW for efficient workflow
  • Advanced Real-time tracking and wide, 693-point high density phase detection AF with up to 10 fps burst with AF/AE tracking, up to 583 compressed RAWs
  • Class leading 9.44 mil dot QXGA EVF and 4-axis multi-angle LCD monitor with 3.2-type large screen

The Alpha 7R V also includes focus features that support high resolution including full-time DMF (direct manual focus), and focus bracketing, a highly requested capability that allows for focus stacked images.

The Alpha 7R V is designed to meet the demands of professionals with its two CFexpress Type A compatible slots and a brand-new menu system with touch control and a wide range of customizable functions.

It offers 8K 24/25p and 4K 50/60p movie recording, 4:2:2 10 bit, All-I, advanced video capabilities, AI-based Real-time Tracking and wide AF for movies, Wi-Fi 802.11ac 2×2 MIMO, SuperSpeed USB 10Gbps (USB 3.2 Gen 2) along with UVC/UAC USB streaming, and improved heat dissipation for extended recording times.

It also boasts an upgraded dust and moisture resistant design, a durable magnesium alloy chassis, and compatibility with the PCK-LG3 Screen Protect Glass Sheet for maximum reliability in challenging working environments.
