HARMAN has opened a new Automotive Engineering Center in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The Samsung Electronics subsidiary’s new center is situated on Mount-Poonamallee Road (MPR) in Porur.
The new Chennai center, which will be fully operational by the second quarter of this year, will help HARMAN tap into Chennai’s rich talent pool of automotive engineers and researchers. It will work in tandem with the other key centres, including Bangalore and Pune, to develop advanced automotive technologies.
This investment marks the latest milestone in HARMAN Automotive’s journey to become the leading automotive electronics supplier delivering best-in-class in-cabin experiences, according to the company.
The company will begin operations in the first year with a workforce of 200 employees. Modern energy-saving technology, such as motion sensor light fittings and VAV units, has been integrated into the center.
The furniture for the centre is made from eco-friendly and renewable materials. The center also has approximately 6% of EV charging stations.
