JioCinema could get rebranded to JioVoot, plans from Rs. 99?

JioCinema, the official digital streaming partner of the Tata IPL, is expected to undergo significant changes. It appears like JioCinema will be renamed JioVoot. Viacom 18 also owns the over-the-top (OTT) platform Voot.

A post done by xcap6456 from Onlytech reveals that JioVoot could be the new name for JioCinema. The community member did a tear down of the current JioCinema APK and has discovered several details.

The source code of the app in the screenshot suggests that JioVoot will be the next platform from Jio Platforms.

The teardown also disclosed that JioVoot will feature a package dubbed Super package, which might cost consumers Rs 99. As of now, it’s unclear whether the fee is monthly or annual. It is also unclear whether Jio subscribers will receive the content for free or at a cost.

CCI approved the merger of Jio Cinema OTT platform with Viacom18 Media Pvt Ltd last year. Reports about JioCinema’s merger with Voot App surfaced earlier this year before the IPL.

In an earlier report said that JioCinema might soon transition to a subscription-based model following the IPL 2023. Jyoti Deshpande, President of Media and Content Business, acknowledged this in the interview as well. She said that all the new material will be paid for by consumers, although the company is still working on the price structure.
