WhatsApp now lets you keep disappearing messages in a thread

After reports of WhatsApp working on an option to keep messages from disappearing in a thread on iOS and Android, the company today confirmed that the feature is currently rolling out globally with the latest WhatsApp update. WhatsApp started testing this earlier this month on Android and iOS beta versions.

This lets anyone in a disappearing message thread long press on a message to keep it. You can keep or unkeep the messages by clicking the bookmark icon. The messages that are marked are listed within the section “kept messages”.

The sender will be notified if it was saved and have the ultimate control over who can keep the message. If the sender decides to unkeep the message, no one else in the chat can keep it again. WhatsApp offers approximately 30 days to unkeep a message from the time it was kept.

WhatsApp keeps working on several features. Recently, the company started rolling out new security features.
