The widely used chat app Telegram has got new features such as Shareable Chat Folders, Custom Wallpapers and more. The last update brought features like power saving mode, optimizations for Android devices with low specs and other new features as well.
Shareable Chat Folders
Chat folders can now be shared with others by sending a link. This makes it easy to invite friends or colleagues to join multiple work groups or news channels at once. You can create multiple invite links for different chats and name them accordingly.
You can add any public chats or ones where you have admin rights to add people. If you add more chats to your folder and update the link, members will receive a suggestion to join the new chats.
Custom Wallpapers
You can now set custom wallpapers in specific chats to add personality and make them stand out. After setting a wallpaper, you can send a message to your chat partner to add the same wallpaper or create their own. This update also allows you to set a custom wallpaper in any 1-on-1 chat.
Better Bots
Telegram bots can now host seamless web apps, which can be launched in any chat. Web apps of bots that support this feature can be accessed via a direct link or by mentioning the bot’s username in any chat.
Web apps launched in groups can also support collaboration and multiplayer features for members. This update provides more opportunities for third-party developers and merchants on Telegram for free.
Bot Links and Telegram Premium on Fragment
Bots can now use collectible usernames, including links without the “-bot” suffix. You can also purchase Telegram Premium for yourself or send it as a gift to others through Fragment.
Fast Scrolling for Attachments
The attachment menu now scrolls quickly like Shared Media, and you can time travel by pulling down on the date bar.
Read Time in Topics
In groups of under 100 members with topics enabled, read receipts show the time your messages were read by other group members.
Improved Interfaces
There are various improvements to the user interface, such as Send When Online requiring fewer taps, the ability to create groups without adding members immediately, and new animations for profile pictures on the latest iPhones.
Availability
The latest Telegram update, which brings some exciting new features, is now live globally! Android users can get the new version with these features from Google Play or directly from Telegram, while iOS users can update to the latest version from the App store. This update also updates the version of the app to Telegram for Android v9.6.1.
