Opera One: A New Browser Experience
Opera says that One is a new browser that transforms the way users interact with their browser. With its modular design, Opera One promises a fluid and intuitive navigation experience that adapts to the user’s needs. The browser has a clean and clutter-free interface, with plenty of space for future AI-based features and extensions in both the browser sidebar and address bar.
Multithreaded Compositor for a Smooth UI Experience
Opera One is the first major Chromium-based browser to introduce a multithreaded compositor, providing users with a faster and smoother interface. This new architecture allows Opera to continue its differentiation from other Chromium-based browsers and implement new features. One of these features is Tab Islands.
Tab Islands: Intuitive Tab Management
Tab Islands is a new feature that provides users with a seamless and intuitive tab management experience. It allows users to keep related tabs together in a separate island, making it easier to switch between browsing topics.
Tab Islands are created automatically and are marked by separate colors and clear island borders, making them easy to distinguish in the browser UI. They can also be created manually by grouping tabs together or by dragging and dropping tabs between islands.
AI Features in the Sidebar
Opera One includes AI-based features in the browser sidebar, making it more functional and intuitive. In the future, Opera plans to become fully modular, enabling the browser UI to adapt dynamically to the user’s needs.
Availability
You can currently download the early-access developer version of Opera One from Opera website.
Speaking on the announcement, Joanna Czajka, Product Director at Opera, said:
Opera One is our first smart and modular product in Opera. It is the start of a series of innovations, including our own AI engine that will be available soon. The web is now faster and smarter with AI that can create content. We are prepared and excited to lead this change with Opera One.
Tab Islands let you organize your tabs into groups based on their context without interrupting your flow. You can easily open and close these groups as you need them. This makes browsing with many tabs more effective, giving you a more smooth and enjoyable browsing experience.
