HMD Global is said to be developing a new rugged smartphone, similar to the Nokia XR20 that was introduced in July 2021, according to a report by Winfuture.de. The upcoming phone was previously known as the Nokia Sentry 5G and may be released under the Nokia XR-series or the name Nokia XR30.
Additionally, the publication has unveiled press renders and some important specifications of the phone.
The Nokia Sentry 5G was initially spotted on a roadmap from HMD Global last year, which accidentally leaked in a manufacturer’s presentation uploaded on YouTube. However, only a few details about the phone’s specifications were available at that time.
Based on the leaked renders, the Nokia XR30 5G rugged phone features two camera sensors and a flash on the back, with the letters “XR” visible, replacing the “Zeiss” branding. The change in branding is due to the end of the partnership with the German camera brand.
On the front, the phone boasts a punch-hole display with noticeable bezels. The overall design of the phone is in line with previous Nokia models. The rugged features of the phone include a durable housing that can withstand shock and water damage.
As per the leaked roadmap, the forthcoming Nokia XR 5G smartphone is expected to offer 6GB of RAM, 128GB of internal storage, and a 4600mAh battery with 33W fast charging support.
Its rear camera setup is rumored to include a 64MP primary camera and an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens. For selfies and video calling, the phone may feature a 16MP front camera. The phone’s estimated price could be around US$499 (Rs. 40,760 approx.). It comes in two color variants Green and Black.
