Amazon Prime gets a price hike, monthly plan now starts at Rs. 299

Amazon Prime Membership prices in India have increased, marking the first price bump in almost 16 months.

New Amazon Prime Membership Pricing

Amazon Prime Membership in India now costs Rs. 299 per month, up from the previous fee of Rs. 179, representing a substantial increase of Rs. 120. The quarterly Prime prices have also gone up and will now cost Rs. 599, up from Rs. 459, which is a Rs 140 increase for three months membership.

However, there is no increase in prices for the annual membership plan, which continues to be available at Rs. 1,499. Likewise, the annual Prime Lite membership plan has a price tag of Rs. 999. The new prices are displayed on the company’s membership fee page as follows:

Amazon Prime Membership includes various benefits such as Prime shipping, access to Prime Video, Prime Music, Prime deals and offers during sales, credit card rewards, access to Prime Gaming, Prime Reading, and Amazon Family.

Existing Amazon Prime Members

Existing Amazon Prime members can continue to enjoy Prime benefits for the duration of their current Prime membership without having to pay any extra amount.

Furthermore, Amazon offers existing members the chance to renew their Prime membership at old prices. However, it is worth noting that the latest price hike does not include the annual membership plan.

Auto-Renewal at Old Prices

Amazon has provided details on the auto-renewal process for Amazon Prime members in India. The company has assured its valued customers that they can continue to auto-renew their Prime plan at the old prices until the last renewal before January 15, 2024. This means that members can continue to enjoy Prime benefits at the old price of Rs. 459 for three months (and Rs. 179 for a month) until that date.

However, there is a word of caution for members who opt for auto-renewal. Amazon has made it clear that this offer only applies if the auto-payment doesn’t decline. If, for any reason, the auto-payment fails or the customer revokes their consent to auto-renew, the member will need to renew their Prime membership at the new prices.
