HUAWEI P60 Pro and Mate X3 foldable go global


Back in March, HUAWEI unveiled its flagship P60 series along with Mate X3 foldable smartphone in China. Now the brand is making global debut of the same. These were introduced at the “Flagship Product Launch” event in Munich, Germany. There’s no word about global availability P60 Pro Art and P60 that were introduced in China, even though those are listed on global site.

HUAWEI P60 Pro

The HUAWEI P60 Pro adopts a unique pearl texture design that makes it shine through like a timeless ornament and gives it a distinct pattern. It features a new 6.67-inch FHD+ OLED quad-curved screen with a 120 Hz refresh rate and LTPO (1–120 Hz) technology. It also has a 1.07 billion-color display with support for 1,440 Hz PWM dimming, Kunlun glass protection, and a punch-hole screen with a 13 MP front camera.

The phone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen1 4G version with the 7th generation Qualcomm AI Engine. The two-way Beidou satellite messaging feature on the Chinese model is missing here.

Coming to the camera part, the P60 Pro has triple rear cameras that include a 48MP super-spotting main camera with F1.4–F4.0 ten-step variable physical aperture, a 13MP ultra-wide lens, and a 12MP 5x optical zoom RYYB camera with a 100x zoom range.

HUAWEI has implemented a 48MP super-concentrating multi-lens group telephoto module that has a super-large aperture of F2.1 and is equipped with a three-axis sensor for stabilization. It offers a 3.5x optical zoom range and a 200x digital zoom range. There’s also an option to shoot macro through a telephoto lens.

The HUAWEI P60 Pro has a 4815 mAh with support for up to 88 W of fast charging and 50 W of wireless fast charging.

HUAWEI Mate X3

Alongside P60 Pro Mate X3 has also been launched globally. This has a 7.85-inch OLED screen on the inside with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 240Hz touch sampling rate, and a 6.4-inch external 120Hz LTPO (1-120Hz) OLED screen with a 300Hz touch sampling rate.

The Mate X3 is said to be the world’s first folding phone with four curves. It looks smooth and elegant. This also features an anti-fingerprint feather and glass version and a plain leather version.

The company says that it has used a “new generation of double-rotation water drop hinge,” and the hinge supports the phone in multiple angles for those no-tripod selfies. It runs the company’s own EMUI 13.1 software, which adds useful features like a split-screen mode for video calls and video watching and a new nightstand mode that shows the weather and time.

It has a 50MP main camera, 13MP ultra wide-angle, and 12MP 5X telephoto. There is an 8MP front camera on the inner and outer screen. The phone is powered by Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC and packs a 4800mAh battery with 66W wired fast charging. In terms of protection, the foldable comes with IPX8 water resistance, impact resistance inner screen, and outer screen made of Kunlun glass.

The HUAWEI P60 Pro comes in Rococo Pearl and Black colour, is priced at £1199.99 (Rs. 1,24,150 / US$ 1,510 approx.) / € 1199 (Rs. 1,07,900 / US$ 1,310 approx.) for 8GB+256GB model while the 12GB+512GB model costs £1299.99 (Rs. 1,34,475 / USD 1,635 approx.) / €1399 (Rs. 1,25,865 / US$ 1,530 approx.).

The HUAWEI Mate X3 comes in Dark Green and Black colours and is priced at £1999.00 (Rs. 2,06,910 / US$ 2,520 approx.) / €2199 (Rs. 1,97,915 / US$ 2,410 approx.) for 12GB+512GB model.

Both smartphones will be available through HUAWEI’s online shop and select merchants. The P60 is already available in both Europe and the UK, while the Mate X3 will be available in Europe on May 22nd and in the UK on May 26th.
