Uber has announced the launch of Uber Green in Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru beginning in June 2023, allowing riders to request a ride in an all-electric, zero-emission vehicle. The company began pilot testing Uber Electric last year.
In addition, the company has announced a series of partnerships to electrify its services in India, collaborating with major industry players to expedite the transition to sustainable transportation.
With this recent declaration, Uber reaffirms its goal to being a worldwide zero-emissions mobility platform by 2040. Uber Green is the most widely used sustainable mobility option, with locations in over 100 cities across 15 countries.
New partnerships by Uber for EV transition
Uber Green is a step in the right direction for environmentally friendly transportation, and the company has announced various agreements to promote the use of electric vehicles.
Lithium Urban Technologies, Everest Fleet Private Limited, and Moove are just a few of the fleet service providers they’re working with to roll out 25,000 electric vehicles across seven cities.
In addition, they have partnered with Zypp Electric to roll out 10,000 electric motorcycles. Together with the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI), Uber is offering loans of up to Rs 1000 crores to encourage the use of electric and compressed natural gas (CNG) vehicles.
Finally, in association with bp pulse, Jio-bp, and GMR Green Energy, Uber is working to increase access to electric vehicle charging stations.

Commenting on the announcement, Andrew Macdonald, Senior VP, Mobility and Business Operations at Uber, said,
