Qualcomm has officially scheduled its sixth annual Snapdragon Tech Summit for this year on October 24th to 26th, a month ahead of the usual time, where it is expected to introduce its flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 rumoured specifications
Based on earlier rumours, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 (SM8650) SoC will get new a new “1+5+2” architecture, compared to “1+2+2+3” setup in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. This is said to bring a more powerful performance core and higher frequency, and use TSMC N4P process.
The chip is said to use 1 x Cortex-X4 prime core, 5 x A720 performance cores and 2 x A520 power efficiency cores and Adreno 750 GPU.
According to leaker Ice Universe, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3’s Adreno 750 GPU will have a significantly improvements in the performance compared to the Adreno 740 and will feature 10MB L3 cache, compared 8MB L3 cache in the predecessor.
According to leaker Digital Chat Station, the Xiaomi 14 series will be the first to use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC when it releases in November. The vivo X100 series, iQOO 12 series, Redmi K70 series, OnePlus 12, Realme GT5 and more will use the chip in the coming months, he added.
Dimensity 9300 before Snapdragon 8 Gen 3?
Thee leaker also said that the Dimensity 9300 is expected to be introduced before the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, so we can expect by the end of September or early October, compared to November.
This is said to use 4 x Corex X4+ 4 x Cortex A720 cores and Immortalis-G720 GPU. This will also use the TSMC N4P process tech. One variant in the vivo X100 series is said to use the chip first.
