WhatsApp is working on Channel notifier, rolls out Screen-sharing for Windows beta

Following the launch of Channels on WhatsApp earlier this month, which provides a private and reliable way for users to receive important updates from people and organizations, WhatsApp is now working on Channel notifier, a future update of the app. It is also rolling out Screen-sharing WhatsApp for Windows in beta, according to WaBetaInfo.

Channel notifier – WhatsApp beta for Android (v2.23.12.20)

WhatsApp is introducing a new feature called Channel Notifier for its beta version 2.23.12.20 on Android. While channels are currently only available in Singapore and Colombia, some users from other regions have tried to join channels through invite links, unaware of the feature’s unavailability.

To address this, WhatsApp will display a generic message informing users about the unavailability. However, the latest update includes a “Notify me” button that allows users to sign up for notifications when channels become available for their accounts. This development shows that WhatsApp acknowledges user interest in trying out channels and may expedite their release.

Screen-sharing – WhatsApp beta for Windows (v2.2322.1.0)

WhatsApp is now introducing the Screen-sharing feature to its beta version 2.2322.1.0 for Windows. This feature was previously available on the Android beta version. With Screen-sharing, you can share your screen during a video call by selecting the appropriate option in the bottom control panel.

You can choose to share a specific window or your entire screen with everyone on the call, including mobile users. Remember to exercise caution while using this feature, as sensitive information may be visible. You have full control and can stop sharing your screen at any time by selecting the “Stop Sharing Screen” button.

Availability

The Channel notifier feature is currently being developed and will be released to beta testers in a future update of the app. Meanwhile, the screen-sharing feature is already available for Windows beta users and will be gradually rolled out to more users in the coming days.
