Sony WF-1000XM5 earbuds surface ahead of launch

Sony is preparing to launch the WF-1000XM5 True Wireless Earbuds, as per reports from WinFuture. The new earbuds aim to be more compact than their predecessors and boast some exciting features.

The upcoming WF-1000XM5 earbuds will be smaller, weighing approximately 5.9g each, which is 1.4g lighter than the previous model. They will maintain an IPX4 rating, ensuring splash resistance.

Sony has upgraded the drivers in the WF-1000XM5 to 8.4mm Dynamic Driver, a step up from the 6mm drivers in the WF-1000XM4.

This improvement is expected to enhance sound quality, particularly in terms of vocals. The earbuds will also feature two proprietary processors and dual-feedback microphones, enabling real-time noise reduction based on the surrounding noise level.

The WF-1000XM5 is said to come with three microphones, Bone Conduction sensors, and Precise Voice Pickup technology. These features will ensure clear voice transmission, even in noisy environments. While the individual earbud battery capacity is unknown, the charging case will have a 500mAh battery.

This provides a total runtime of 24 hours, and with quick charging capabilities, just a 3-minute charge will offer an hour of music playback. Additional leaked specifications include Bluetooth 5.3 and multi-point support. The headphones will also be compatible with the Sony Connect app and will come in two colors: Black and Silver.

Launch date?

The Sony WF-1000XM5 is expected to launch in the coming days, according to the report, but the details regarding the pricing and availability are still undisclosed.
