IDEMIA and DIAL partner for DigiYatra Facial Recognition

IDEMIA, a global leader in identity technologies and biometric solutions, has been chosen as the technology partner by GMR Group for the DigiYatra initiative.

DigiYatra, an industry-led project aligned with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s Digital India vision, aims to digitally transform the nation and create a paperless travel experience for air passengers. The initiative was launched in three airports in December last year.

Seamless and Hassle-free Travel Experience

IDEMIA has collaborated closely with DIAL (Delhi International Airport Limited) for the past 18 months to develop and implement a proof of concept (POC). Following successful testing, IDEMIA has been awarded the contract.

As part of the partnership, IDEMIA’s facial recognition technology will be utilized at Delhi, Hyderabad, and Goa airports to verify the identity of domestic flyers. This implementation will facilitate a seamless, hassle-free, and paperless process for terminal entry and security clearance.

Enhancing Convenience, Privacy, and Security

IDEMIA leverages its acclaimed facial recognition and digital technologies to enhance the DigiYatra initiative. By deploying contactless biometric technologies such as fingerprint, face, and iris recognition, IDEMIA addresses hygiene concerns while ensuring passenger privacy and security.

These advanced technologies identify travelers on the move, optimizing efficiency and creating a smooth passenger journey. The aim is to provide Indian passengers with a novel and digital experience, enabling smoother, faster, and more secure air travel for those who voluntarily choose to use the DigiYatra platform.

A Proven Track Record

With a rich history of equipping over 250 airports worldwide, IDEMIA has established itself as a leader in cutting-edge biometric and digital solutions. Notably, Singapore’s Changi Airport, renowned as the “world’s best airport” for 12 consecutive years, relies on IDEMIA’s facial and fingerprint recognition technologies.
