Airtel to launch Xstream AirFiber 5G device, app spotted on Play Store

Airtel is gearing up to release its new Xstream AirFiber 5G device, called “Airtel Xstream AirFiber 5G” that is similar to Jio Air Fiber. While an official announcement is yet to be made, the companion app for the device has been spotted on the Google Play Store by Kiran Reddy of OnlyTech.com.

The Xstream AirFiber companion app simplifies the setup and management of the Xstream AirFiber 5G device, delivering high-speed internet over 5G networks. For optimal performance, users need to be within the 5G coverage zone.

The app includes an augmented reality (AR) feature to help users find the ideal placement for the device. Insert an Airtel 5G SIM and connect to a power source to use the Xstream AirFiber. Alternatively, other devices can connect via Wi-Fi or QR code scanning.

The tower-shaped device displays Airtel branding and three indicators that show connectivity status and signal strength. With Wi-Fi 6 support, it offers 50% faster speeds than Wi-Fi 5 routers, benefiting gaming.

While compatible with 4G, the device excels with higher bandwidth and lower latency on 5G networks. It also provides Ethernet ports for wired connections.

Pricing

The app displays the pricing plan for a 6-month subscription at a speed of 100Mbps, which costs Rs. 2,994 or Rs. 499 per month. Additionally, the 5G router is estimated to cost Rs. 6,000.

It’s important to note that Airtel has not officially announced this service, and more information may be released in the future.
