Nearby Share for Windows out of beta, now available for download


Google has officially launched Nearby Share for Windows, offering improved performance and new functionality, making content sharing and productivity easier for users.

According to Google, after its successful beta launch in March 2023, the app has been installed by over 1.7 million people worldwide, with more than 50 million files transferred between PC and Android devices since its initial release.

New Updates for Nearby Share for Windows

With the official release of Nearby Share for Windows, Google introduces several updates to enhance user experience:

Estimated Time for File Transfers: Users can now see the estimated time for completing file transfers, particularly useful when sending large files like videos or entire folders.

Image Preview in Notifications: The app now includes an image preview within device notifications, ensuring users share the correct files seamlessly.

Expanding Nearby Share app to more PCs

Google is collaborating with partners, such as HP, to incorporate the Nearby Share app on select Windows PCs, like the HP Dragonfly Pro. This effort aims to further streamline sharing between Android devices and PCs.

Availability

The Nearby Share for Windows app can be downloaded from its official site. It is compatible with 64-bit versions of Windows 10 and above, supporting desktops and laptops, but ARM devices are not supported.
