Samsung adds Wallet, Thermo Check, and WhatsApp to Galaxy Watch Series

Samsung has unveiled a range of new apps for its Galaxy Watch series, promising enhanced and versatile smartwatch experiences for Galaxy users.

The following apps have been introduced: Samsung Wallet, Thermo Check, and WhatsApp, empowering users to perform various tasks directly from their wrist.

Samsung Wallet App

Samsung Wallet, known for consolidating Samsung Pay and Samsung Pass on smartphones, now extends its functionality to the new Galaxy Watch series. With the all-in-one Samsung Wallet app, users can effortlessly make payments, present identification, and access show tickets conveniently from their smartwatch.

Thermo Check App

Leveraging the advanced infrared technology of the Galaxy Watch, the Thermo Check app utilizes the new Skin Temperature API from Samsung’s Privileged Health software development kit (SDK).

Users can now measure the temperature of their surroundings without any physical contact. From checking meal temperatures to water temperatures for swimming, this app adds a valuable tool to users’ smartwatch capabilities.

WhatsApp

Samsung Galaxy Watch4 and Galaxy Watch5 users can now access WhatsApp’s first-ever smartwatch app, which was released for Wear OS 3 smartwatches yesterday. The app enables users to continue conversations, respond to messages via voice, and answer calls without reaching for their phones.

Availability

The Thermo Check app will initially be available on upcoming Galaxy Watch6 devices and will later expand to the Galaxy Watch5 series. Both the Samsung Wallet and WhatsApp can be downloaded through Google Play starting today.

However, Samsung has stated that availability may vary by model, market, and paired smartphone.
