Threads update brings Following Feed, Translation and more

With the latest update, Threads is introducing new options for the For You and Following Feed, as well as several additional features. These changes were announced by Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri through a post on Thread and are a response to feedback from users.

This comes after the recent updates to the iOS app. Let’s have a look at what’s new:

For You and Following Feed Options

With this update, Threads offers two ways to personalize your feed. The “For You” option presents a mix of posts from profiles you follow and recommended accounts. On the other hand, the “Following” option displays posts solely from people you follow, presented in chronological order.

Post Translations Feature

A significant addition to Threads is the “Post Translations” feature. Threads will automatically translate posts in a user’s feed to the language they are written in and match the language settings of the viewer.

This means that if you encounter a post in a different language, and a translation is available, you can simply tap the translation button to view it in your preferred language.

Notification Filtering

Threads now allows users to filter their Activity feed by new categories, including Follows, Quotes, and Reposts. This feature lets you sort and manage notifications more efficiently.

Follow Button

The latest update introduces a “Follow” button on your followers’ list, enabling you to easily follow other accounts back.

Streamlined Approval Process for Private Accounts

For private accounts, the update offers a quick and convenient way to approve new followers. You’ll be able to see the posts you’ve liked in your settings, and there’s an option to “approve all” follow requests at once.

On the announcement of new updates, Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri, said:

We have listened to your feedback and are excited to announce that we are rolling out updates starting today. This is just the beginning, as we are continuously working on more updates to improve your experience on our app. We appreciate your feedback and encourage you to keep sending it through as we strive to make our app even better.
