Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 with 6.7″ FHD+ 1-120Hz AMOLED Infinity Flex display, 3.4″ AMOLED cover display, Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy announced

Samsung just announced the Galaxy Z Flip5, the company’s next-generation flip phone, at its unpacked event in South Korea, as it had promised. This retains the 6.7-inch FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity Flex main display with a 22:9 aspect ratio, 1 to 120Hz adaptive refresh rate.

The cover screen is now bigger at 3.4-inches, making it 3.78 times larger than the Flip4, and the Super AMOLED display with 60Hz refresh rate is now brighter offering up to 1600 nits peak brightness.

It offers more customization options, including informative and graphical clocks that can match the face design of a user’s Galaxy Watch6 series, and the Flex Window lets you quickly and effortlessly access useful information.

There are Widgets to check weather, control music playback, Media Controller, Google Finance widget, and you can switch between them instantly with a pinch of the screen with Multi Widget View. This also has Quick Settings, lets you check call history, reply to texts using Quick Reply with a full QWERTY keyboard and chat history. You can also access Samsung Wallet.

The Flex Window is now larger, and you can capture hands-free photos with FlexCam. The Dual Preview lets your friends see themselves in the Flex Window. Even though the Z Flip5 retains the 12MP main + 12MP ultra-wide cameras, this offers improved Nightography capabilities, and the AI-powered image signal processing (ISP) algorithm reduces noise in low-light images while enhancing details and color tone, says the company.

The Galaxy Z Flip5 features a wider variety of recycled materials than the previous generations, including pre-consumer recycled glass and aluminum and post-consumer recycled plastics, sourced from discarded fishing nets, water barrels and PET bottles. Even the paper used for their packaging box is made using 100 percent recycled material, says Samsung.

It still has an Armor Aluminum frame and hinge cover and with IPX8 water resistance ratings, but has new Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection on the Flex Window and back cover.

The main screen is equipped with a shock dispersion layer and a redesigned back for a more solid display. The enhanced Flex Hinge with integrated hinge module features a dual rail structure, diffusing external impacts, says Samsung, and it is now slimmer at 15.1mm when folded.
