OnePlus Nord CE 3 5G Unboxing and First Impressions


OnePlus announced  Nord CE 3 5G, the company’s latest Nord CE series phone, last month along with the Nord 3. This has large 6.7-inch FHD+ Fluid AMOLED 120Hz screen, 50MP Sony IMX890 sensor, bigger 5000mAh battery, and replaces the Dimensity 900 with the Snapdragon 782G SoC. Here we have the unboxing and first impressions.

It features a 6.7-inch (2412×1080 pixels) Full HD+ 395 ppi 20.1:9 Fluid AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate, compared to a smaller 6.43-inch 90Hz FHD+ AMOLED screen.

There is a single 16MP front camera inside the tiny punch-hole, same as the predecessor. There is an earpiece on the top which doubles up as a secondary speaker, compared to mono speakers in the Nord CE 2.

The phone has an in-display fingerprint scanner which is quick to unlock the phone. The phone runs Android 13 with OxygenOS 13.1 on top, and the company has promised 2 Android OS updates and 3 years of security updates for the phone.

Under the hood, the Nord CE 3 5G is powered by the Snapdragon 782G SoC, making it one of the few phones with the chip. It has support for 9 5G bands, has up to 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage, compared to UFS 2.2 in the older model.

Coming to button placements, the power button is present on the right along with volume rockers. The Dual SIM slot with a hybrid SIM slot, primary microphone, USB Type-C port and the loudspeaker grill are present on the bottom. The secondary microphone, IR Blaster and vent for speaker are present on the bottom. It drops the 3.5mm audio jack which was present in the Nord CE 2.

The phone has triple rear cameras that include a 50MP main camera with the Sony IMX890 sensor, f/1.8 aperture, OIS, 8MP 119° ultra-wide camera with f/2.2 aperture and a 2MP macro camera with f/2.4 aperture. It supports 4K video recording at 60fps. Check out some camera samples.

The Aqua Surge with a plastic back has a glossy glass-like finish, and the phone also comes in Gray Shimmer that has a metallic effect. The phone is just 8.23mm thick and weighs 184 grams. It also has IP54 for dust and splash resistance, similar to the Nord 3.

The phone packs a huge 5000mAh battery compared to 4500mAh in the Nord CE 2, and also get faster 80W SuperVOOC fast charging compared to 65W fast charging.

The OnePlus Nord CE 3 5G starts at Rs. 26,999 for the 8GB RAM with 128GB storage version, which is Rs. 3000 more than the predecessor, but the RAM has increased. It will be available from Amazon.in, OnePlus.in, OnePlus Experience Stores, offline partners, and the OnePlus Store app starting from August 4th with Rs. 2000 bank discount.
