Microsoft and Discord have announced an exciting new feature for Xbox players – the ability to stream their Xbox Series X|S or Xbox One games directly to Discord.
This feature has been highly requested by the Discord community and is now rolling out to Xbox Insiders in the Alpha Skip-Ahead and Alpha rings of testing. Here’s how to Stream Your Games to Discord Friends:
Connect Your Xbox Profile to Discord:
To get started, you need to link your Discord account with your Xbox profile. Simply go to User Settings > Connections on Discord for desktop or mobile, click on the Xbox logo, sign in with your Microsoft account, and you’re good to go. If you’ve already connected your accounts for Discord Voice on Xbox, no need to do it again.
Stream to a Discord Server:
Once your accounts are linked, press the Xbox button on your controller, open the Parties & Chats tab on your Xbox Series X|S or Xbox One, and select Discord. Scroll through your available servers, join a Voice channel, and when you’re ready to start streaming, select “Stream your game.”
Stream to a Discord DM or Group DM:
To stream your gameplay to a DM or Group DM, first join the call on your desktop or mobile device. Then, click the “Transfer to Xbox” button to move the conversation to your Xbox console. After transferring, you’ll see the “Stream your game” option in the Xbox guide.
Additional Benefits for Nitro Members
Nitro members can enjoy extra streaming perks with their subscription, including streaming in HD quality up to 1080p and increased frame rates. This is perfect for showing off your gaming skills or sharing beautiful game worlds with friends.
Availability
Currently, Xbox Insiders can start streaming to Discord, while the feature will soon be rolled out to all Xbox gamers soon.
Announcing the update, Discord posted:
We strive to be the ultimate destination for players to connect and play with friends. Our introduction of streaming on PC and mobile was aimed at recreating the experience of friends lounging together, playing games, and joking around, virtually from anywhere in the world. As cross-play between platforms expands, so does our mission to unite players, wherever they play.
