Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 Unboxing and First Impressions

Samsung launched the Galaxy Z Flip5, as the successor to last year’s Z Flip4. This brings a major upgrade with a new hinge, bigger cover screen, and also uses a powerful chip. We already brought you the hands-on from the event, here we have the unboxing and first impressions.

The Galaxy Z Flip5 features a large 6.7-inch FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity Flex main display with a 22:9 aspect ratio, 1 to 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, same as the Flip4. Powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen2 for Galaxy, the phone has 8GB of RAM.

On the inside, the phone has a 10MP camera, and you can see the earpiece grill on the top edge that doubles as a secondary speaker.

The phone still has an Armor Aluminum frame with a glossy finish. This gets a new Flex Hinge with integrated hinge module features a dual rail structure, diffusing external impacts, and it is now slimmer at 15.1mm when folded.

The power button with the embedded fingerprint scanner, and the volume rockers are on the left, the SIM slot is present on the left, the primary microphone, USB Type-C port, and the loudspeaker grill are on the bottom, and the secondary microphone is on the top.

It has IPX8 water resistance ratings, and has new Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection on the Flex Window and back cover. In addition to the Mint colour that we have, the phone also comes in Cream, Graphite and Lavender colours.

The main highlight is the outer screen, which is now 3.78 times larger than the Flip4, at 3.4-inches. The Super AMOLED display still has 60Hz refresh rate, but it is now brighter, offering up to 1600 nits peak brightness.

Since the outer screen is bigger, you can add several widgets, and also run apps like YouTube and Netflix. You can switch between the widgets instantly with a pinch of the screen with Multi Widget View. This also has Quick Settings, lets you check call history, reply to texts using Quick Reply with a full QWERTY keyboard and chat history. You can also access Samsung Wallet, which is now available in India.

The phone retains the 3700mAh battery with 25w fast charging and 15W Qi wireless charging.

The Z Flip5 retains the 12MP main + 12MP ultra-wide cameras, but with the new ISP, it offers improved Nightography capabilities, and reduces noise in low-light images while enhancing details and color tone, says the company. Check out the camera samples.

The company is selling the Clear Gadget Case for the phone that you see in the image, separately at Rs. 3299. The Silicone Case with Ring costs Rs. 3599, the Flap Eco-Leather Case costs Rs. 7,499 and the Flipsuit Case costs Rs. 3999.

The Galaxy Z Flip5 starts at Rs. 99,999, for the 256GB model, which is Rs. 5000 more than the 256GB model of the Z Flip4. As a part of launch offer, those who pre-order the phone will get Rs. 8000 as bank cashback and Rs. 12,000 upgrade bonus.
