In a recent announcement by Adam Mosseri, Head of Instagram, Threads, the Twitter alternative developed by Meta, has announced several new features in its latest update.
Following the last month’s update that introduced the Following Feed and Translation capabilities, Threads is now offering users even more functionality to enhance their experience. Let’s have a look at what’s new:
Share Threads via Instagram DMs: With the new update, users can easily share Threads posts directly to their Instagram Direct Messages. By tapping the share button, a “Send on Instagram” option appears, simplifying content sharing.
Custom Alt Text for Photo/Video: Threads now enables users to include custom alternative text (alt text) for photos and videos they incorporate into their posts. By selecting the image or video and tapping on “Alt text,” users can enhance accessibility by providing descriptive text.
Mentioning with the New Button: Threads introduces a “mention button” that streamlines the process of tagging another user’s account within a Thread.
Sort Your Followed Accounts: Users can now organize the list of accounts they follow. By accessing their profile, heading to the followers section, and selecting “Sort,” users can easily manage their followed accounts.
View Liked Threads: Threads now allows users to see a compilation of threads they have liked. Simply navigate to your profile, access settings, and choose “Your likes” to access this overview.
Threads Support for rel=me Links: To enhance user verification on platforms like Mastodon, Threads now supports rel=me links. Users can add their Threads profile link on supported platforms, verifying their identity more easily.
