WhatsApp rolls out Multi-account support on Android in beta

WhatsApp has commenced the rollout of a multi-account feature, following its testing phase in June. According to a recent report from WABetaInfo, selected beta testers now have access to this feature.

WhatsApp Multi-account feature

The latest WhatsApp beta for Android update, version 2.23.17.8, introduces the capability for certain beta testers to add multiple accounts to their app. To add a new account, users can simply tap the arrow icon located next to the QR code button.

This menu also facilitates seamless switching between different accounts. It’s important to note that newly added accounts remain active on the device until the user chooses to log out.

The feature is designed to streamline users’ experience by enabling the consolidation of private chats, work conversations, and other chats within a single app. The function ensures that conversations and notifications are kept separate for each account. This eliminates the need for multiple devices or parallel apps when switching between accounts.

Moreover, this update simplifies the process of managing multiple accounts on a single device. Instead of configuring separate WhatsApp accounts on each device, users can conveniently use one app on their primary device to access and switch between various accounts.

Availability

While the multi-account feature is currently accessible to specific beta testers who have updated to the latest WhatsApp beta for Android, it is set to become available to a broader audience in the upcoming weeks.
