Ather 450S with DeepView Display, new 450X launched

Ather Energy just launched the 450S, the company’s next electric scooter, after it was announced back in June. It offers the same 90km/h speed as the 450X, but the Certified Range / ARAI range goes down from 146KM to 115KM per single charge. The TrueRange is 90KM in Smart Eco mode and 70KM in Sports mode.

It offers the same fast charging rate of 1.5km/min (0-50% SOC) and 1km/min (50-80% SOC), as the 450X with the Ather Grid. It still has Bluetooth for music controls, and comes with Turn by Turn navigation instead of Google Maps in the 450X.

DeepView Display

The 450S comes with a non-touch LCD screen woth auto brightness option, compared to the touch screen in the 450X. Ather is calling it DeepView Display, and says that it is the industry’s first 18-segment display that offers exceptional clarity and high contrast, making it legible even in bright sunlight or low light conditions.

There is a new switchgear on the left to navigate through riding modes and access smart features. There is also a button for park assist.

New features in new Ather 450S and new Ather 450X

The company has also introduced new features that are available for the 450S and some are coming to 450X models as well.

  • Fall Safe: Uses sensors to detect changes in the position of the scooter. If the scooter has fallen over or the rider has been thrown off (when the scooter goes beyond 60°), it cuts off the motor, making it safer for riders and the public. Available to existing 450X users via update.
  • Emergency Stop Signal: In a panic braking situation, onlookers are informed of a ‘warning’ or ‘emergency’ situation with the blinking of rear lights
  • Theft and Tow: Whenever an unusual movement is detected. The blinking of front and rear lights, the indicator sound going on, and a notification sent to your phone will indicate unusual movement of your Ather.
  • Coasting Regen: The motor will recover energy once you let go of the throttle. Adds additional True Range up to 7% on each ride mode.
  • Push Navigation from WhatsApp: Send your shared locations to the scooter’s dashboard with the Ather App through apps like WhatsApp.
  • Optimized Charging 2.0: The scooter learns from your riding patterns and chooses an optimum time to charge your Ather to 100% overnight. It helps improve your battery life by up to 6 months when you wake up to a full charge.
  • New Trip Planner (450X only): Lets you plan each and every trip efficiently, including Inter-city rides with route suggestions keeping in mind of battery percentage and suggests charging grids along the way which you can pick from. Available for existing Ather owners (Gen 3.1 450X and 450 Plus) via an update soon.
