Display, Hardware and Design

The Infinix GT 10 Pro sports a 6.67-inch (1080 x 2400 pixels) Full HD+ flat 10-bit AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate, 360Hz touch sampling rate and 394 PPI. The display is bright since it has up to 900 nits peak brightness. It offers good colour output since it has 100% DCI-P3 color gamut, and the sunlight legibility is good as well. You can select from Bright, and Original screen colour modes.

The phone has a 1920Hz high-frequency dimming technology. In dark environments where DC dimming can’t work, the phone will automatically switch to, 1920Hz PWM dimming mode to maintain accurate colors on display with a more comfortable eye experience.

The phone also has HDR 10 support, which works for YouTube, but it doesn’t work with Netflix. The phone doesn’t have a notification LED, but this has an always-on-display that shows contextual info and notifications.

The phone has a tiny punch-hole in the centre that houses a 32-megapixel camera. Above the display, there is an earpiece on the top edge that doubles up as a secondary speaker. It has an in-display fingerprint scanner.

Coming to button placements, the power button is present on the right along with volume rockers. The dedicated Dual SIM slot with microSD slot is present on the left. The 3.5mm audio jack, primary microphone, USB Type-C port and the loudspeaker grill are present on the bottom. The secondary microphone, and vent for speaker are present on the top.

The phone has a cyber mecha design that looks like glass. In addition to Cyber Black that we have, it also comes in Mirage Silver colour.

It has LED light effects that display lighting in sync with the rhythm of the music played, as well as calls and notifications which are customizable. It also has IP53 ratings for dust and splash resistance.

Camera

  • 108MP rear camera with f/1.75 aperture, Quad LED flash
  • 2MP macro camera, f/2.4 aperture
  • 2MP depth sensor, f/2.4 aperture
  • 32MP front camera with f/2.45 aperture, dual LED flash

The phone has similar camera setup as other Infnix phones running XOS 13. There is Flim, Video, Beauty, Portrait, Super Night, AR Space, Short Video, Pro mode Slow motion, Dual video, Panorama, Super Macro, Documents, Time-lapse and Sky Shop. The rear camera offers 12MP output after pixel binning, and the front camera images are 32MP in size.

Daylight shots came out well, thanks to the 108MP sensor, and the dynamic range is better with auto HDR. The default mode uses AI which recognizes different photo scenes and automatically adjusts camera settings to make boost the colours. 2X is good, but as you zoom in you lose details even though you get up to 10X zoom. The portrait mode is decent and the 2MP macro camera is useless, so it is recommended to use 2X with the normal camera. The phone lacks an ultra-wide camera.

Low light shots are good with a lot of details and less noise, and the night mode make night shots better, but it takes a few seconds to process. The front camera also does a good job in daylight. The bokeh shots good with decent edge detection.

Check out the camera samples

It can record videos in up to 4K 30 fps, slow motion 1080p at 120fps, 720p at up to 240 fps, and the front camera can record 2K 30fps videos. Portrait video mode and ultra steady video with the main camera are limited to 1080p 30 fps. It doesn’t have OIS, but EIS does a decent job.

Software, UI and Apps

It runs Android 13 based XOS 13.1 out of the box. It has Android security patch for June 2023. The phone will get 1 Android update and 2 years of security updates, which is less compared to the competitors.

It doesn’t have any bloatware, which is a first for Infinix phones, and the company also lets you uninstall some of the system apps and Google apps, which is good. From 50 apps, the pre-installed app list comes down to 19 in the phone.

Out of 8GB LPDD4X RAM, you get 7.49GB of usable RAM, and about 2.5GB of RAM is free when default apps are running in the background. It also has MemFusion or dynamic RAM expansion feature, which uses the built-in storage as RAM.

This has up to 8GB of additional RAM expansion. Out of 256GB, you get about 226GB of free storage. The phone uses UFS 3.1 storage, and we got sequential read speeds of, 17000 MB/s.

Fingerprint sensor and Face unlock

It has an in-display fingerprint sensor that unlocks the phone quickly, but it is not as fast as a physical fingerprint sensor. You can add up to 5 fingerprints. You can also use the fingerprint for app local and payments in apps. Furthermore, you can change the fingerprint animation and also disable it, and also enable quick launch option to launch apps directly from the lock screen by holding the fingerprint. The phone also has face unlock feature.

Music and Multimedia

YouTube Music is the default Music Player. It has DTS which works with speakers and the headset and has customizable modes and equalizer. It has FM Radio support with recording speaker. Audio through the stereo speakers is good without any distortion even in full volume. Audio through earphones is good as well.

This has Widevine L1, so that you can play HD content on Netflix and other streaming apps. It supports HDR content on YouTube, but doesn’t work on Netflix or Prime Video.

Dual SIM and Connectivity

The Infinix GT 10 Pro 5G has support for n1/n3/n5/n7/n8/n12/n20/n28/n38/n40/n41/n66/n77/n78 Network Bands in India. It has 4G Wi-Fi and VoLTE, with support for Carrier Aggregation on 4G. Other connectivity options include Wi-Fi 6 802.11 ax (2.4GHz + 5GHz), VoWiFi / Wi-Fi calling support, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS / GLONASS / Beidou. It has OTG support and also has NFC support. Moving on, the call quality is good, and we did not face any call drops and the earpiece volume was loud.

The Infinix GT 10 Pro’s body SAR is 1.245W/Kg and head SAR is at 1.019/Kg, which is well under the limit of 1.6 W/kg (over 1 g) in India.

Performance and Benchmarks

Coming to the performance, this powered by an Octa-Core MediaTek Dimensity 8050 6nm processor, which is similar to Dimensity 1300. It has 1x Cortex-A78 @ 3GHz, 3x Cortex-A78 @ 2.6GHz and 4x Cortex-A55 @ 2GHz. It has ARM G77 MC9 GPU. The phone currently supports 90Hz high refresh rate with MLLB, Free Fire and PUBG.

It offers smooth gaming performance even in graphic intensive games. The phone gets a bit warm on intensive gaming, but it doesn’t too hot.

The phone has a large vapor chamber cooling area. We did not face any issues or frame drops in the graphic-intensive games like COD, BGMI and Genshin Impact. It reached maximum 42º in our testing indoors in Wi-Fi, but this might vary outdoors in 4G. That said, check out some synthetic benchmark scores below.

As you can see, it beats all the phones in the price range.

Battery life

Coming to the battery life, the phone packs a 5000mAh (typical) built-in battery, similar to most phones in the price range. It lasted me more than a day with mixed Wi-Fi and 5G use and dual SIMs. The phone has support for 45W fast charging, can charge up to 50% in about 20 minutes and up to 100% in an hour with the bundled 45W PD charger. There is AI smart charge that charges the phon

Conclusion

At a starting price of Rs. 19,999 for the single 8GB + 256GB, the Infinix GT 10 Pro is a value for money packed with features, and also performs well. If you can manage the XOS which might take time getting used to, this should be good. It goes on sale every few days on Flipkart.

Alternatives

There is no direct competitor in the price range that can match the specifications of the GT 10 Pro. There is Lava Agni 2 if you spend more, but it lacks stereo speakers, and the POCO X5 Pro 5G is also a good option powered by Snapdragon 778G+.

Pros

  • 120Hz AMOLED display
  • Smooth performance and decent gaming performance
  • 3.5mm audio jack, Stereo speakers
  • Eye-catching design
  • IP53 splash-resistant body
  • Good battery life with fast charging

Cons

  • No ultra-wide camera
  • Gets heated quality on intensive gaming
