‘X’ gets new video and media improvements


Elon Musk’s ‘X’, formerly known as Twitter, has recently revealed upcoming enhancements to its service.

Earlier this week, the platform addressed a bug that caused the removal of older Twitter links and images, resolving the issue promptly.

Key Updates Introduced:

1. Extended Video Options: Premium subscribers can now share longer videos, with the ability to post up to 2 hours of 1080p quality or 3 hours of 720p quality content.

2. Media Studio Access: The media studio, accessible at http://studio.x.com, is now open to all X Premium subscribers.

3. Enhanced Video Management: Premium users can download videos from their timelines to their device’s camera roll. Additionally, they have the option to enable or disable video download for their own posts.

4. Automatic Video Captions: Popular videos will now feature automatic captioning, enhancing accessibility.

5. AirPlay Support: Users can now stream videos from X platform to their TV using AirPlay.

6. Picture-in-Picture Playback: Enjoy seamless video watching by multitasking – you can continue scrolling your timeline or using other apps while watching videos in a picture-in-picture mode.

7. Video Control Improvements: Enjoy better control over video playback with features like adjustable playback speed, double-tap for fast-forwarding, and jumping back.

8. Enhanced Live Broadcasting: Mobile users will experience improved quality in live broadcasts.

10. Web-Based Space Participation: Users can now speak and co-host in Spaces directly from the web version.

11. Increased Spaces Capacity: The platform now supports millions of participants in Spaces sessions.

Subscription Pricing Details:

Earlier this year, the platform removed legacy ‘Blue Checks’ for users. The X Premium (previously Twitter Blue) service is available globally for $8 per month through web browser sign-up. For iOS and Android users, in-app payments are required, with a cost of $11 per month.

In India, the pricing for X Premium is set at Rs. 900 per month for iOS and Android, and Rs. 650 for the web client. An annual plan is available at a discounted rate of Rs. 6,800, equivalent to approximately Rs. 566 per month, reflecting a 12% discount.
