Samsung said to launch Exynos 2400 in Q4 2023, power Galaxy S24 series in some regions

Samsung is rumored to make a strategic move by bringing back its Exynos chips for some models in the Galaxy S24 series. While the Galaxy S23 exclusively used Snapdragon chips, the upcoming S24 lineup might see a return of Exynos, at least in specific regions.

Samsung Exynos 2400 Expected Specifications

Recent leaks suggest that the Exynos 2400 processor will power select Galaxy S24 devices destined for Africa, Europe, and parts of Asia. This chip is constructed using an improved version of Samsung Foundry’s 4nm fabrication process, which now boasts a 75% yield rate. This rate is on par with the yield rates of TSMC’s 4nm process.

The Exynos 2400 is said to feature a 10-core CPU configuration, which includes a high-performance Cortex-X4 core clocked at 3.1GHz, two Cortex-A720 cores clocked at 2.9GHz, three Cortex-A720 cores clocked at 2.6GHz, and four Cortex-A520 cores clocked at 1.8GHz. This setup ensures a harmonious blend of power and efficiency.

Additionally, rumors suggest that the chip will be compatible with UFS 4.0 storage and LPDDR5X RAM with a substantial bandwidth of 8.5Gbps. Furthermore, the chip will come equipped with an ISP (Image Signal Processor) built into it, capable of handling camera sensors with resolutions of up to 320MP and support video recording at resolutions of up to 8K at 60fps.

In the graphics department, the Exynos 2400 is expected to feature the Xclipse 940 GPU with 12 GPU cores, potentially offering double the graphics performance of its predecessor, the Exynos 2200.

Connectivity-wise, it’s equipped with the Exynos 5300 modem, supporting 5G networks with up to 10Gbps maximum downlink speeds. Additionally, it’s compatible with mmWave and sub-6GHz networks, ensuring versatile connectivity options.

Release Date

The Exynos 2400 is expected to launch in the Q4 of 2023, with integration into the Samsung Galaxy S24 series on a limited scale. We should get more information about the chip in the coming months.
