PhonePe has introduced an innovative celebrity voice feature in partnership with renowned Indian actor Amitabh Bachchan for its SmartSpeakers.
This unique feature allows PhonePe SmartSpeakers across India to confirm customer payments using Mr. Bachchan’s distinctive voice. Initially available in Hindi and English, the celebrity voice feature will expand to other languages in the future.
PhonePe introduced SmartSpeakers a year ago, and they are now in use by merchant partners in over 19,000 postal codes, covering more than 90% of the country. These SmartSpeakers have facilitated 100 crore transactions across India, showcasing their popularity.
The company stated that the addition of a celebrity voice, specifically that of Mr. Amitabh Bachchan, would make the payment experience more engaging for both merchants and customers.
Merchants can activate this feature through the PhonePe for Business app by following these steps:
- Open the PhonePe for Business App.
- Find the SmartSpeaker section on the home screen.
- Under ‘My SmartSpeaker,’ select ‘SmartSpeaker Voice.’
- Choose Mr. Amitabh Bachchan’s voice in your preferred language.
- Click ‘Confirm’ to activate the voice.
- Your device will reboot with the updated language in Mr. Bachchan’s voice within a few hours.
