Android Auto gets Web conferencing apps, Prime video and more

Google has introduced new features in its latest update for Android Auto and cars with Google built-in. These updates aim to make your driving and parked experiences more convenient, safe, and entertaining.

Productivity on the Go

Now, Android Auto supports WebEx by Cisco and Zoom, enabling audio-only participation in meetings while you’re on the road. This addition makes it effortless and safe to join scheduled meetings and conference calls directly from your car display, eliminating the need to reach for your phone.

Entertainment While Parked

When you’re parked, Google offers an array of entertainment options for cars with Google built-in. Prime Video is now accessible on Google Play for select Renault, Polestar, and Volvo Cars, with plans to expand to other brands.

You can catch up on your favorite content, including popular series and movies, while waiting or charging your vehicle.

Google is dedicated to enhancing your driving experience. You can soon download The Weather Channel app from Google Play in cars with Google built-in.

This app provides real-time weather updates, hourly forecasts, and radar information to keep you informed about weather conditions during your journey.

Digital Car Key

Google is expanding support for the digital car key, which allows you to unlock, lock, and start your vehicle using your smartphone. You can even share your digital key with family and friends wirelessly, regardless of whether they use Android or iOS.

Initially available in select European countries, digital car key support is now rolling out for compatible Pixel and Samsung devices on select Hyundai, Genesis, and Kia models in the U.S., Canada, and Korea.

Google plans to collaborate with more automakers in the near future to expand this feature.
