Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra could drop 10x telephoto camera

The Samsung Galaxy S24 series, set to launch in a few months, has been garnering significant attention. Renowned tipster Ice Universe (@UniverseIce) hints that the Galaxy S24 Ultra may feature a 50MP telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom.

This is in addition to a 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, suggesting a potential reduction in zoom capabilities compared to its predecessor.

He also revealed that the Galaxy S24 Ultra will incorporate an HP2SX image sensor with impressive specifications: a 200MP resolution, a 1/1.3-inch sensor size, and a 0.6μm pixel size.

Furthermore, the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s 50MP telephoto camera is expected to come with a 1/2.52-inch sensor and 0.7μm pixels for both 3x and 5x zoom, similar to the camera on the Xiaomi 13 Ultra.

It’s noteworthy that Xiaomi uses the same sensor for a 3.2x optical zoom camera, potentially equalizing the zoom performance.

The smartphone is rumored to sport a 6.78-inch QHD+ AMOLED display with a 19:5:9 aspect ratio and a maximum brightness of up to 2500 nits. It might also be powered by a 5000mAh battery that supports both 45W wired fast charging and 25W wireless fast charging. Additionally, the device might include two-way satellite emergency connectivity.

In terms of other specifications, earlier reports indicate that the Galaxy S24 Ultra will be available in two processor variants: Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and Exynos 2400 chipsets. These chipsets are anticipated to be paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5x RAM and UFS 4.0 internal storage.
