OnePlus Open now expected to launch on October 19

The OnePlus Open was supposed to launch on August 29th, according to earlier rumours, but the launch got delayed. At the TechCrunch Disrupt 2023, Robin Liu, CEO of North America for OnePlus, confirmed that its first-ever foldable smartphone will be launched soon.

OnePlus just said that more details about the new OnePlus foldable phone will be available soon on the official OnePlus website, OnePlus forums and social media channels.

However, according to reliable leaker Max Jambor, the smartphone will launch on October 19th.

Renders that surfaced last month revealed an OPPO Find N2-like design with rounded sides, but with a flat frame, unlike the curved frame in the OPPO Find N2.

It also showed a larger rear camera module that shows three large sensors, including a periscope telephoto camera, and the flash on the left corner, outside the camera cut-out.

Earlier rumours revealed a 7.8-inch 120Hz foldable inner AMOLED display and a 6.3-inch 120Hz outer AMOLED screen, Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, up to 16GB of RAM, up to 512GB of storage, 48MP main, 48MP ultra-wide and a 64MP telephoto camera, and a 4,800mAh battery with 67W SuperVOOC fast charging.

Regarding the foldable phone, OnePlus said:

As the latest breakthrough in OnePlus’s exploration of smartphone form factors, and a representation of the brand’s openness to all possibilities, the new device is set to redefine the concept of foldable smartphones by delivering all-round flagship-level experiences in a compact foldable form factor.
