Google Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro detailed specs surface, could get up to 7 years of updates

After the camera specifications and the price that surfaced recently, complete specifications of the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro have surfaced, thanks to the same leaker, Kamila (@Za_Raczke) on X.com (formerly Twitter).

In addition to the specification, which reveals a bigger battery and faster wired and wireless charging compared to the Pixel 7 series. It also reveals that the devices will get OS and security updates for seven years, compared to 5 years in the older models.

Earlier rumours revealed that Pixel devices might get 5 years of OS updates, so the security updates could continue for 2 more years after the 5 years of Android updates. Since the phones will run Android 14, it could get updates till Android 19.

Rumoured pricing and availability

The Google Pixel 8 is expected to come in Obsidian, Hazel and Rose colours and start from USD 699 (Rs. 58,055 approx.) for the 128GB model.

The Google Pixel 8 Pro is expected to come in Obsidian, Porcelain and Bay colours and start from USD 899 (Rs. 74,665 approx.) for the 128GB model.

Google has already confirmed that the phones will be available for pre-order on the October 4th, the same day of the launch in several countries. In India, it will be available to pre-order from October 5th.

We can expect the devices to go on sale from October 12th, a week later. We should know the details about the bank offers on the launch day.
