We just have one day for the launch of Pixel 8 series smartphones, now the Pixel 8 Pro has surfaced in Geekbench 6 listing, revealing the details and performance of the Google Tensor G3 SoC.
This reveals a new 1+4+4 setup, compared to 2+2+4 in the Tensor G2. It has 1 x Cortex-X3 prime core clocked at 2.91GHz, 4x Cortex-A715 performance cores clocked at 2.37GHz and 4 x Cortex-A510 power efficient cores clocked at 1.7GHz.
The clock speed revealed in the benchmarks is less than the one that was rumoured earlier. It is said to include Mali-G715 (Immortalis) 10-Core GPU that supports hardware-based ray tracing.
This reveals single-core score of 1760 and multi-core score of 4442, a huge improvement compared to the Tensor G2 in the Pixel 7 Pro. The chip is said to use 3rd Gen 4nm Samsung process tech compared to 5nm process in the G2.
Even the specs on the phone from apps point to the same Tensor G3 specs, thanks to M. Brandon Lee. Both these reveal 12GB of RAM and 128GB as the base variant, but there should also be a 256GB model for the global market and a 512GB model for the US market.
The Google Pixel 8 should also use the same chip, but it is said to come with 8GB of RAM. We should know the official Tensor G3 specs when the phones go official tomorrow, October 4th.
