Google just introduced the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, the company’s latest flagship smartphones, and also launched these in India, as it had promised. The Pixel 8 comes with a smaller 6.2-inch FHD+ OLED display, the refresh rate is now 120Hz refresh rate, and has 42% higher peaker brightness than the predecessor. Google is calling it Actua display.
The Pixel 8 Pro comes with a 6.7-inch Quad HD+ OLED display, now has 1-120Hz variable refresh rate and has 60% higher peaker brightness than the predecessor. Google is calling it Super Actua display. The phone also comes with a temperature sensor.
The Pixel 8 Pro has polished aluminium frame and smooth, matte back glass, and the Pixel 8 features satin metal finishes, a polished glass back.
Both the smartphones are powered by Google Tensor G3 SoC with support for 5G SA/NSA and come with Titan M2 Security chip. These run Android 14, and will get Android and security updates for 7 years, so it will get till Android 21.
Camera specs and features
Both the phones feature a 50-megapixel camera. The Pixel 8 has a 12-megapixel ultrawide lens, Both these now have an autofocus ultrawide camera with macro option, and the Pixel 8 comes with a new 48MP ultrawide sensor. The Pixel 8 also has 48MP telephoto camera with support for 5x optical zoom and 30x digital zoom.
There are new Best Take, Magic Editor and Audio Magic Eraser features. It has Dual Exposure technology that makes videos sharper and less grainy in scenes with the toughest lighting. Video Boost on Pixel 8 Pro uses Tensor G3 and the power of Google data centers that uses computational photography models in the cloud for HDR+ video a reality. It also brings Night Sight Video for the first time on Pixel. Both features will be available for the Pixel 8 Pro in December feature drop.
Pro Controls on Pixel 8 Pro now lets you manually adjust focus, shutter speed and ISO, in addition to white balance, exposure and shadows brightness controls. A new Pro settings let you take 50MP photos throughout the zoom range. Even as you fine-tune Pro Controls, all of Pixel’s HDR+ computational photography is still enabled, says Google.

The Google Pixel 8 comes in Obsidian, Hazel and Rose colours and is priced at Rs. 75,999 for the 128GB model and the 256GB model costs Rs. 82,999. In the U.S. it starts from USD 699 (Rs. 58,055 approx.).
The Google Pixel 8 Pro come in Obsidian and Bay colours in India and is priced at Rs. 1,06,999 for the single 128GB model. In the U.S. it starts from USD 999 (Rs. 83,220 approx.).
These phones will be available for pre-order now and will be available for purchase starting 12th October on Flipkart.
