Samsung Electronics has unveiled the Galaxy SmartTag2, an updated addition to the Galaxy SmartTag series. This new device offers improved ways to keep track of your belongings, with enhancements in design and usability.
The Galaxy SmartTag2 is designed for simplicity, featuring a sturdy metal loop to attach accessories like clips and keyrings to bags and luggage. It retains Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and UWB capabilities, introducing Augmented Reality (AR) Find technology for locating items using your Samsung Galaxy smartphone camera within a 120-meter Bluetooth range.
Samsung ensures user privacy by granting device location access only with user permission, encrypting data with Samsung Knox for security. Each SmartTag can be tracked by a single device and SmartThings Find account.
It offers an improved Compass View, available on UWB-supported Galaxy smartphones, guiding you to the SmartTag2’s direction and distance. The SmartThings Find app is updated with shortcuts for newly registered SmartTags, a full-screen map view, and automatic syncing when switching phones.
For extended battery life, it offers Power Saving Mode (up to 700 days) and an improved Normal Mode (up to 500 days). Samsung Galaxy users benefit from “Unknown tag alerts” for unauthorized tracking.
The SmartTag2 works seamlessly with SmartThings Station, acting as a device scanner, aiding in tracking personal items and registered devices. It’s also rated IP67 for water and dust resistance.
Availability
The Samsung Galaxy SmartTag2 will be available in Black and White colors, launching globally on October 10. Although the price is anticipated to be around USD 30 (Rs. 2,496 approx.), official pricing information has yet to be announced.
