Nothing OS 2.5 Open Beta 1: Android 14 update coming soon to Phone (2)

Last week, Google announced the long-awaited release of the Android 14 stable update for Pixel phones and pushed the source to the AOSP project. Google also assured that the update would be extended to Nothing phones. Now, on its X page, Nothing has confirmed the rollout of Nothing OS 2.5 Open Beta 1 for Phone (2).

Nothing initially introduced its Nothing Phone (2) back in July, equipped with Android 13 and Nothing OS 2.0. Now, they are preparing for a significant software upgrade with the upcoming release of Nothing OS 2.5 Open Beta 1, based on Android 14. The Nothing Phone (1) even got Android 14 developer preview back in May.

Android 14 introduces a plethora of new features, including an enhanced customization picker that simplifies the process of personalizing wallpapers and home screens. The support for HDR images with Ultra HDR technology ensures that photos display vibrant colors, brighter highlights, and deeper shadows.

Furthermore, Android 14 brings improvements in data sharing and device security. Users will now be encouraged to set a more secure six-digit PIN, streamlining the device unlocking process. The software also offers other features like Flash notifications, improved Accessibility settings, and many other vision-and hearing-inclusive features.

More details regarding the rollout of Nothing OS 2.5 Open Beta 1 to the Nothing Phone (2) and instructions on how to take part will be available tomorrow, October 11th.
