Meta introduces simplified settings in Accounts Center across apps

Meta has introduced new ways to help users manage their information within its apps. By streamlining settings and placing controls in the Accounts Center, it’s now simpler to handle your data across Meta’s apps.

One-Stop Data Downloads

Now, ‘Download Your Information’ and ‘Access Your Information’ are both found in the Accounts Center. This allows you to retrieve data from both your Facebook and Instagram accounts at once.

For instance, you can easily download photos from both platforms with a single click. Alternatively, you can still choose to download data from Facebook and Instagram separately.

Extended Control to Instagram

Meta has expanded its controls, previously exclusive to Facebook, to Instagram as well. ‘Activity Off-Meta Technologies’ and ‘Transfer Your Information’ are now available for Instagram.

The former enables you to manage how data sent by other businesses to Meta connects with your Facebook and Instagram accounts. You can review, disconnect, or clear this data as you see fit.

Improved Data Portability

With the extension of ‘Transfer Your Information’ to Instagram, you can now move your Instagram photos and videos to other services, making it easier to share and preserve your memories.

User-Friendly Simplicity

Meta acknowledges users’ desire for streamlined decision-making across multiple apps. By consolidating these settings in Accounts Center, you can now select your preferences for all Meta apps at once. If you prefer individual settings for each app, that option is still available.

Accessing Accounts Center

You can access the Accounts Center within the Settings menu on Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger.

Announcing the updates, Meta posted:

We’ll keep seeking ways to simplify how individuals can tailor their usage and engagement with our apps and technologies.
