WhatsApp brings Multiple accounts support on Android

Mark Zuckerberg has just announced a new feature for WhatsApp that allows users to have two WhatsApp accounts on a single device, following the beta release in August.

This update simplifies the way you manage your work and personal accounts, eliminating the need to log out each time or carry two phones.

Setting Up a Second Account on WhatsApp

To establish a second WhatsApp account, you’ll require a second phone number and SIM card or a phone that supports multi-SIM or eSIM. Access your WhatsApp settings, click on the arrow next to your name, and choose “Add account.” You can personalize privacy and notification settings for each account.

Newly added accounts will remain active on the device until you decide to log out. This update streamlines the process of managing multiple accounts on one device.

Instead of configuring separate WhatsApp accounts on each device, you can conveniently use a single app on your primary device to access and switch between various accounts.

Availability

The Multiple Accounts on WhatsApp feature will be gradually rolled out to Android users in the coming weeks and months. However, there’s no word yet on the availability of this feature for iOS devices.

Announcing the feature availability, Mark Zuckerberg posted:

Switch between two accounts on WhatsApp will soon allow you to have two WhatsApp accounts on one phone, all within the app.
