boAt Labs, the research and development division of boAt, has achieved a remarkable feat by developing an indigenous Neckband IP. This accomplishment not only showcases their innovation but also highlights the potential for value-driven engineering in India.
The development of this neckband IP was carried out under the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ and ‘Make in India’ initiative in partnership with the Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) of Mobile Enhancements.
A Modern Center for Innovation
The Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC), Noida, houses the state-of-the-art Centre of Excellence (CoE). It is a part of the Ministry of Electronics & IT (MeitY) initiative in collaboration with the Government of Uttar Pradesh and the India Cellular and Electronics Association (ICEA).
The CoE offers world-class infrastructure and expertise to promote the development of innovative electronic products. boAt Labs leveraged this support to create the neckband IP, enhancing the design ecosystem in India.
boAt and ICEA Join Hands
boAt becomes the first consumer lifestyle electronics company to collaborate with ICEA for the development of Indigenous IP. The neckband IP, a feature-rich product, brings great value to Indian brands and consumers.
boAt Labs’ R&D engineers worked with global technology partners, component suppliers, and distribution partners to optimize the Bill of Material (BOM) and choose the system-on-chip (SoC). This IP also integrates advanced algorithms to enhance user experiences like audio and call quality.
Strengthening India’s Electronics Industry
The development of this neckband IP marks a significant step toward increasing domestic value addition and making the Indian electronics industry globally competitive. It underlines the ability of Indian companies to innovate and produce high-quality, cost-effective products.
boAt Labs’ IP ecosystem will reduce India’s reliance on foreign companies for electronic products. This empowers Indian consumer electronics companies to create neckband products in-house, rather than depending on foreign designs, democratizing the IP for the Indian market.
