Qualcomm unveils ‘Snapdragon Seamless’ cross-platform solution

At the Snapdragon Summit, Qualcomm Technologies unveiled an innovative technology known as Snapdragon Seamless. This cross-platform solution facilitates the seamless connection of various devices, including Android, Windows, and Snapdragon devices using different operating systems.

The Challenge of Incompatible Devices

According to Deloitte’s 2023 Connected Consumer survey, the average U.S. household now possesses 21 distinct digital devices. However, these devices often struggle to communicate effectively with one another, particularly if they originate from different manufacturers.

This lack of compatibility limits consumer choice and can lead to a situation where consumers feel locked into a single manufacturer’s ecosystem to ensure device compatibility. Qualcomm highlighted that the goal is to enable these devices to communicate and collaborate as one unified system.

Enhancing the Multi-Device Experience

Snapdragon Seamless offers a solution for device manufacturers and operating system partners to enhance and expand the multi-device experience for consumers.

Here are some practical examples of what this technology can achieve:

  • Seamless operation of mice and keyboards across PCs, phones, and tablets.
  • Effortless drag-and-drop file and window sharing between different types of devices.
  • Intelligent switching of earbuds based on the priority of the audio source.
  • Extending the capabilities of smartphones with XR (Extended Reality).

Snapdragon Seamless Integration

Snapdragon Seamless is a cross-platform technology that empowers the effortless connection of multiple devices across various operating systems.

It allows for the sharing of peripherals and data and has been integrated into Qualcomm’s mobile platforms, including the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and Snapdragon X Elite, as well as their wearable and hearable platforms.

Collaboration with Leading Brands

Qualcomm Technologies has joined forces with industry giants such as Microsoft, Android, Xiaomi, ASUS, HONOR, Lenovo, and OPPO. Their collective effort aims to provide consumers with multi-device experiences through Snapdragon Seamless, and this collaboration is set to roll out globally as early as this year.

Commenting on the launch, Dino Bekis, VP and GM, Wearables and Mixed Signal Solutions, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. said:

Snapdragon Seamless revolutionizes the way we view OEMs, devices, and operating systems. It’s the sole cross-device solution that prioritizes the user above all else.
