vivo just announced the Y100 5G, the company’s latest 5G smartphone in the Y series in China, after a different Y100 model was introduced in India earlier this year. The phone has a 6.78-inch FHD+ curved OLED screen with 120Hz refresh rate, and a 8MP camera inside the notch. It runs Android 13 with Origin OS 3.
The phone has an AI Virtual Proximity Sensor ‘INNER BEAUTY’ from Elliptic Labs that detects when a user holds their phone up to their ear during a call, allowing the smartphone to turn off its display and disable its screen’s touch functionality. By replacing hardware sensors with software sensors, the AI Virtual Proximity Sensor reduces device cost and eliminates sourcing risk, said Elliptic Labs.
It is powered by Snapdragon 695 with up to 12GB of RAM with 12GB of extended RAM. The phone has a 64MP rear camera with OIS and along with a 2MP depth sensor.
The phone has a high-strength aluminum alloy frame and new cushioning materials makes that phone resistant to drops, says vivo. It has IP54 rating for dust and water resistance, and pack a 5000mAh battery, yet it maintains 7.49mm sleek design in the Black that has a quicksand texture back cover, combined with nano-level coating technology.
The green color has feather-like textures, which look like the breeze blowing on the face and the clouds rolling and relaxing. This has a 3D frosted glass finish that doesn’t attract fingerprints and the Blue color has a nano-scale enamel texture coating with a finish that looks like thousands of stars twinkling.

The vivo Y100 5G comes in colours and is priced at 1399 yuan (USD 191 / Rs. 16,065 approx.) for 8GB + 128GB, 1599 yuan (USD 218 / Rs. 18,360 approx.) for 8GB + 256GB, 1799 (USD 245 / Rs. 20,465 approx.) for 12GB + 256GB and the top-end 12GB + 512GB model costs 1999 yuan (USD 273 / Rs. 22,740 approx.) . The phone is now available to order and will go on sale in China starting from November 4th.
