Google Drive gets updated Homepage on Android and iOS

Google has introduced a revamp to the homepage of the Google Drive mobile app on both Android and iOS devices, aiming to streamline your file management experience.

Google Drive Homepage Update

The refreshed suggested view now displays a broader array of recommended files, including those recently accessed, shared, or edited, facilitating quicker file location. Notably, a similar refresh for MacOS and Windows was rolled out in 2021 for the Google Drive desktop version.

Additionally, the notifications view has been replaced by the activity view, mirroring the recent web launch. This consolidated view streamlines essential items that require attention, such as pending access requests, recent comments, and awaiting approvals, all conveniently accessible in one location.

It’s worth noting that users don’t have a specific setting to enable or disable this feature. For those who prefer not to use the home tab, the app will open on the last-used tab, be it Shared or Files.

Availability

The updated Google Drive homepage has already begun rolling out for Android users. As for iOS users, the update commenced on November 10, 2023. This update is accessible to all Google Workspace customers and users with personal Google Accounts.
